Includes information on average tariff rates and types that U.S. firms should be aware of when exporting to the market.

Since joining the EU in 2007 Bulgaria has been a member of the EU Customs Union. Most Bulgarian customs provisions were replaced with EU regulations. EU products enter Bulgaria free of tariffs which is why U.S. products are often not competitive. Tariff rates for imports from countries outside the EU range from 5 percent to 45 percent. See TARIC, the integrated Tariff of the EU, at:  http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/customs/customs_duties/tariff_aspects/customs_tariff/index_en.htm.
