Projects may be financed through national or international institutions.  The African Development Bank-financed Fund for Development and Expansion and the European Fund (FODEX) provide financing to small and medium sized companies.

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a U.S. government agency, offers project financing in Gabon.  The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, has provided financial assistance for the private development of oil fields in Gabon.
