Purpose of Data Collection
Personal data other than human resources data: Data is processed for various purposes, including: facilitating use of the Airbnb platform; payment processing; facilitating communications; advertising and marketing; administering surveys and promotions; research and analytics; risk assessment, security, fraud prevention, and protection of Airbnb and its users; operating, developing, and improving Airbnb products and services; personalizing the user experience; customer service and support; and legal compliance. Data is disclosed to third parties – including users, service providers, affiliates, public authorities, and enterprises participating Airbnb’s Business Travel Program – as detailed in Airbnb’s Privacy Policy, including: to facilitate booking, for processing by service providers, to facilitate payments and collection and remittance of occupancy taxes, where necessary for safety and compliance with law, and to administer Airbnb’s Business Travel Program. Human resources data: Data is processed for global workforce management purposes, including: facilitating global communication and providing for a global directory; planning and managing human resources on a global level; assisting employees in understanding their roles and responsibilities; facilitating managerial approvals and notifications; workflow management, such as assigning, managing, and administering projects that may be performed across countries; accounting, project costing and estimates; compensation analysis, decision-making and administration; stock plan and other employee equity program administration; performance, career advancement and secondment management; succession planning; IT services; security and employee authentication; legal compliance; and assessing compliance with, and detecting violations of, Airbnb policies. Human resources data is disclosed to third parties – including affiliates, service providers, external advisors, and public authorities – as detailed in our Employee Handbook, including: to facilitate global workforce management, where required by law, in response to lawful requests from public authorities, to conduct investigations, or as otherwise permitted by the Privacy Shield Framework Principles.
