Purpose of Data Collection
Akamai collects and process certain data elements relating to the traffic on its network, including, Internet Protocol Addresses (IP Addresses), security information, traffic log and performance data. To the extent that any such data is capable of being used to identify (alone or in conjunction with other data, an individual), it is treated as Personal Data. In addition, Akamai collects Personal Data of users of Akamai's own websites and applications, as well as contact information associated with our business customers. Akamai processes data for purposes of: providing, maintaining, protecting, developing, and improving the solutions we offer to our business customers; detecting and preventing potential fraud and security risks; and supporting Akamai's internal business operations (e.g. billing). In addition, when providing services, end user personal data of Akamai customer may transit Akamai's servers as determined by the customer via its website or web application. Other than temporary storage or any longer term storage requested by the customer, transmission and securing of such information, Akamai does not further process customer content data.
