Purpose of Data Collection

PURPOSE: Best Western International, Inc. and/or its subsidiaries (e.g. SureStay, Inc.) (collectively, "BWI"), collects Personal Information about customers (e.g., hotel guests and loyalty rewards members) and prospective customers so that we can provide an experience that is responsive to the needs of such individuals. BWI may collect, use, and disclose Personal Information for one or more of the following purposes: ? Customer-related transactions for stays at Best Western® or SureStay? branded hotels or services provided by BWI, to include: reservation services, administrative services, account services, marketing services, customer services, loyalty program services, internal business purposes, and other communications. TYPES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED: BWI may collect "Personal Information," meaning information that identifies you as an individual or from which you may be identified. For example, we may collect: ?first name, last name, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, number of children, age of children, preferred language, purpose of travel; ? payment information (e.g. credit card number or other payment account number to guarantee or pay for a stay, billing address, and other payment and billing information) (?Payment Information?); ? loyalty program member information (for Best Western Rewards® or other loyalty programs), account details, profile or password details, any frequent flyer or travel partner program affiliations, and redemption and fulfillment details; ? records and copies of your correspondence if you contact us; ? information necessary to fulfill special requests (e.g., health conditions that require specific accommodation); ? guest stay information, including the hotels where you have stayed or are booked to stay, date of arrival and departure, booked rate categories, other guest preferences, and goods and services purchased; ? information collected through the use of closed circuit television systems, card key and other security systems; ? IP addresses, other device-related information that is automatically collected; and ? in limited cases, information relating to the credit of customers. ? If you voluntarily share "Sensitive Information" (e.g., Personal Information related to your health) with us, that information will only be used as necessary to fulfill special requests (e.g. health conditions that require specific accommodations). ? Any personal data provided voluntarily by customers or prospective customers or that is necessary for the purpose of booking a stay at a Best Western or Sure Stay branded hotel or for the purpose of any other services provided by BWI. THIRD-PARTY TYPES TO WHICH PERSONAL DATA IS DISCLOSED: ? Best Western International, Inc. and its subsidiaries. ? Licensed Hotels (this means a Best Western or SureStay branded hotel where a customer is scheduled to stay or has stayed). ? Affiliates (this means third-party affiliate organizations or master licensees permitted to sublicense the Best Western or SureStay brand outside of North America). ? Loyalty program (such as Best Western Rewards®) partners as necessary to satisfy member requests (e.g. airline or partner or redemption fulfillment partner). ? Third-Party Service Providers as necessary to conduct BWI?s business ? Social Networking Forums. BWI may make available interactive services (e.g., message boards, forums, and blogs) through which you may post information and materials. ? As necessary to comply with legal and regulatory requirements or demands in accordance with applicable law, a court order, subpoena, or other legal process.
