Purpose of Data Collection
We collect contact information associated with our business customers and prospects (i.e. potential business customers) in connection with the operation of our business (e.g. providing our services and support; communicating and marketing; data analysis, audits, product development and enhancement; and our management, administration, financial or legal responsibilities, including legal proceedings and government investigations). We process personal information of our business customers, prospects and their personnel in connection with the operation of our business and our relationships with such business customers, prospects and personnel. With our products and services, we provide our business customers an environment for customer relationship management, customer service, social engagement, community building and data analytics, among others where or business customers collect personal information of their customers. In providing the environment, we process the personal information our business customers instruct us to process on their behalf in accordance with our agreements with our business customers. Note that we have no control over the ways in which our business customers use personal information. The personal information that we collect from our business customers and their customers and from prospects in the E.U. is stored in a database that is accessible by certain of our employees that are located in the United States. We limit access to this information to only those employees who are necessary to carry out one or more of our ongoing business operation activities listed in the first paragraph. We use human resources data we collect from our employees in the EU only for the following business purposes: online learning compliance programs and protecting our legal interests. The online learning compliance program information that we collect from our EU employees is stored in a database that is accessible by certain employees that are located in the United States who need such information for compliance purposes. We use a limited number of third parties (such as accountants, attorneys, consultants, and other service providers or contractors ) to assist us in providing services to our business customers. These third parties may access, process, or store personal information in the course of providing their services. We maintain contracts with these third parties restricting their access, use and disclosure of personal information in compliance with our Privacy Shield obligations. We process personal information regarding third parties and their personnel in connection with these services and our business relationships with them. We may disclose personal information (i) if required to do so by law or legal process or in response to lawful requests from public authorities, including to meet national security, public interest or law enforcement requirements or (ii) to a third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock.
