Purpose of Data Collection
We use, process, and store personal information as necessary to perform our contract with our clients and for our legitimate business interests, including: • to help us administer our Site, Software, and/or Services, authenticate users for security purposes, provide personalized user features and access, process transactions, conduct research, develop new features, and improve the features, algorithms, and usability of our Site, Software, and/or Services. • to communicate with users about their use of our Site, Software, and/or Services, product announcements, and software updates, as well as respond to their requests for assistance, including providing account verification support if they are having difficulty accessing their account. • to send them direct marketing emails and special offers about Grammarly, from which they can unsubscribe at any time. If they are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we will only send them marketing information if they consent to us doing so at the time they create their account or any point thereafter. • to display User Content associated with their account and make sure it is available to them when they use our Services. • to provide human proofreading services for users who submit User Content in connection with this specific service. • to calculate aggregate statistics on the number of unique devices using our Site, Software, and/or Services, and to detect and prevent fraud and misuse of those. We process personal data from our customers, clients, users and site visitors. We process personal data, including: username, email address, contact preferences, language preferences, and payment information (if they are a paying customer). We also process information such as location, log data, usage statistics, device information, and cookies. From time to time, this information is shared with third-party vendors who we have contractual agreements with in order to provide our services (e.g, with BrainTree to process credit card payments, or Zendesk in order to provide customer support).
