Purpose of Data Collection
Chartbeat is a real-time analytics service which is implemented on websites to track visitor behavior and monitor trends; this information is displayed to site owners. We collect data from our customers (for log-ins, etc.) and very limited personal data from our customers users (IP addresses, which are automatically truncated). Chartbeat only shares the data with its approved sub-processors that are needed in order to provide the services. When a visitor visits a website on which the service is implemented, we collect certain information regarding their use of the website, such as their IP address and browser type. The session on the website will be tracked, but each user will remain anonymous. We gather this information for systems administration purposes, abuse prevention and to track user trends. We may also use the IP address to identify the general geographic area from which the visitor is accessing a website on which the service is implemented. We do not link IP addresses to any personally identifiable information.
